About John O'Reilly
Prior to founding O'Reilly Wealth Advisors in late 2006, John O'Reilly managed corporate business divisions with P&L responsibility, as well as departments of large multinational companies including sales, marketing, product management, manufacturing and engineering. He has managed complex projects across multiple disciplines globally for over 30 years, and has experience with several start-up companies and operations.
John passed the Series 65 Exam for Investment Advisor Representatives, which founded OWA as an independent Registered Investment Advisor firm. He holds a Life Agent license (CA Life Lic. #0F41383), a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MS in Engineering Management (an MBA for engineers).
John is active in his local church, a lifelong blood donor, a lifetime member of the Marine Executive Association, Founder of the San Diego Job Transition Ministry, served on the Envision Carlsbad Citizens Committee (EC3), served more than 16 years on the Palomar Airport Advisory Committee (PAAC), and is a graduate of the Carlsbad Citizens Academy. O'Reilly Wealth Advisors is a member of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. John resides in Carlsbad, California with his wife of almost 40 years and their Irish Wolfhound. They enjoy frequently visiting with their daughter and son-in-law who live in North County.
"I've always enjoyed serving others — whether carefully loading bags of groceries in a customer's car in turbulent Nebraska weather as a teen, or, now, improving each client's probability of achieving their goals, and helping entire groups of employees with their 401(k) accounts and personal financial questions.
As I facilitate conversations about goals and values, I am inspired by hearing each person's unique vision. I am also inspired by the estate planning attorneys, CFPs, CPAs, 401(k) service providers and other subject matter experts who enjoy serving as much as I do. I am surrounded by incredible people, the closest being my amazing wife and daughter. North County is blessed with people with a 'can-do' attitude, open heart and friendly spirit."

About the Firm
O'Reilly Wealth Advisors is an independent Registered Investment Advisor that uses the latest strategy development and implementation techniques to help individuals realize their financial goals — for the reasons that are important to them. We bring meaning to our clients' financial planning experience by tying their deeply held values to their goals.
We provide 401(k) plans that reside at the highest level of fiduciary care currently available, and we are a local leader in the very popular Aggregation 401(k), which offers many benefits over standalone plans.
As an independent Registered Investment Advisor, we draw on a deep ecosystem of specialist alliances — technically competent, compassionate and service-oriented professionals whose combined experience runs many years deep. Together they span every discipline a situation may call for, including estate and corporate attorneys, certified financial planners, insurance experts (life, long-term care and other specialties), tax strategy and CPAs, Evidence-Based Investing funds, ERISA Section 3(38) advisors, ERISA Section 3(16) administrative fiduciaries, TPAs, schedulers and client service managers.
Our Difference
It makes sense to point out what OWA is not. We are not a big-box national brokerage firm. We are not employed by a large national firm, or subject to their edicts.
We are employed by our clients. Each client is important to us. John had the unique opportunity to characterize the financial-services landscape, and then design and build a new firm from scratch — avoiding the mistakes that plague the industry.
John designed OWA from the ground up to give our clients the highest probability of success, for the reasons that are important to them. From our motivating, values-focused Discovery meeting, to the specialists we collaborate with, to our internal processes for developing client advice — every business-design decision we make must pass one test:
